cakap cakap : First week in November!
How was it possible, that in May 2020, a few Malay politicians, who were already regarded as pariahs by the very parties that they had once been part of for many years, how was it possible for these pariahs to overthrow Pakatan Harapan, the very government that had taken them in, nurtured them, gave them sustenance and the opportunity to rise from the depths of their failures to become men and women of political standing….how is it possible that these same pariahs could then turn on the same Pakatan Harapan that had saved them and in the same instance, caused PH to lose government? A government of the rakyat and elected by the rakyat in a general election just two years before?
The reason, causes, and circumstance of Langkah Sheraton have been discussed and debated to death and we are still none the wiser for it, but this much we know. The nefarious exploits of these pariahs caused Pakatan Harapan to lose government, put Din in as prime minister, and the other pariahs were richly rewarded with high public office, and they partake in the spoils within the gravy train that came with it. All this was possible because PAS and UMNO sat at the same table with TSMY and his pariahs and together they set up that infamous back door PN government that has since been called many other names bar the one that really matters… ETHICAL!
Nothing built on deceit, self-interest, and greed, lacking in ethical and moral intent and the deliberate underhanded abuse of the trust placed upon these pariahs by the rakyat at the 2018 general election… nothing that came out of this betrayal, is sustainable.
And in this first week of November 2020, TSMY and his cabal of pariahs will find out that good does triumph over evil. That the enemy of your friend may become your friend but that cycle of friend and foe does not stop when you want to get off. And for the frog (read TSMY and his cabal of pariahs) that went for a ride on the back of the snake (read Umno)…be wary of the time when the snake grows hungry and you are the only nourishment it can partake. Din… the snake is now hungry.
Din knows how Trump feels going into the US Presidential Election this Tuesday. Trump does not want to lose. Trump cannot afford to lose for the costs to him, personal and financial, will be huge. On a personal level as a man who thinks himself better than anybody at anything he chooses to do, a loss would devastate his ego. Losing the office of president will also open Trump up to litigation for personal and business impropriety that the office of the President protects him from. But there is still hope for Trump as the US presidential election is too close to call.
Din too is going into an election of sorts in the same week as Trump is fighting for his political and personal survival. Maybe that is not an apt description of what Din is facing this week because, for Trump, win or lose, Trump is a survivor and will live to fight another day. What Din is facing this coming week is akin to watching Saddam Hussein walk up the last few steps to his own hanging. For Saddam you can see no fear and he met his end honourably – if a tyrant like Saddam can salvage some honour in his death. What about Din?
From his first day in office as PM, Din was already a Dead Man Walking. His tenure as PM and head of the Back Door Government was not in his own right. It was at the pleasure of his coalition partners, PAS and UMNO. Drawing unashamedly on the executive powers of the incumbent, he irresponsibly appointed 70 or so GLC heads and other politicians of questionable character and abject meritocracy to positions that merely gave them a ticket to board the PN gravy train to enrich themselves at the expense of the rakyat.
Din did not allow Parliament to convene and proceeded to stack his Cabinet with his own pariahs, adding more pariahs to the original group of pariahs that he already had. The cream on the pudding was to plant a willing and pliant Speaker to do his bidding in parliament.
All this he did while studiously ignoring the request from Umno to be included in the affairs of the PN government. That request soon became a demand and, when still ignored by Din, that demand has now become a sword poised menacingly over Din’s ready to behead Din’s political head in the first week of November! This coming week.
Din’s last gasp attempt at delaying his own beheading, the EMERGENCY, was dead on that Friday when even as a complicit Cabinet approved for Din to megadap the King to advise the King of the need for an EMERGENCY….the King and his brother Rulers, after a suitable interval to discuss and debate the advice, said, “NO EMERGENCY”.
And so we now come to Din’s beheading in the first week of November, in Parliament in the year 2020. No if’s. No but’s. To get parliament to approve his budget he needs every single vote that PN can give him. At best, Din has a razor-thin majority in Parliament. I do not know anything that is thinner than a razor so you can be assured that Din’s consternation as to whether there will be enough support from within PN for his Budget to pass, is, to say the least, considerable. I think he has all of Bersatu votes in hand. If Pas is to be allowed to have their kleptocratic way in Terengganu, Pas will also have to give their votes to Din.
What of Umno?
What of Umno indeed! Just one question to Din. Will Umno be with you to pass the Budget next week?
Enough said. It’s past 12.30 pm now and I have not even had my first Nespresso Short Black! Politics in Bolehland will be the death of me! No Short Black on a Saturday morning is akin to not having Nasi Lemak on Sunday for breakfast! That is simply not done. So excuse me while I go and have my Short Black. Be good. Do good and be nice to one another.
