We are divided over Anwar Ibrahim. Should he or should he not be prime minister. That, in itself, is good. From Merdeka in 1957 until PRU 14, we never had a say in who will be our prime minister. Never ever. Never consulted. Never had the opportunity to suggest anyone else other than the one already decided by the powers that be. Therefore if we are divided and are able to state our druthers as to who should and who should not be prime minister…then it stands to reason that it is good for our country, good for our people and good for politics that there is division among us as to who should be prime minister.

Of course, the powers that be can say that there is already an agreement in place as to who shall be prime minister after Mahathir. They can say there is a manifesto, they can say there is a promise…they can say what they want…but they cannot ignore that there is division among us all about who should be prime minister.

The question now is simply this. How can this matter be resolved? How should we decide who should lead us after Mahathir?

For me, we should decide who will lead government the same way we decide who should do government. Consensus. Somehow the people should be given the opportunity to decide WHO will be our prime minister after Mahathir leaves….who…and that who can or cannot be Anwar Ibrahim.

What say you?
