4.54 am. Monday: Let us be honest with ourselves. Let us try to come to terms with the reality that surrounds us. We have a PH government clueless as to what it has to do in government and what it has to do to retain government. We have an opposition that sees its salvation from being punished for its corrupt ways only in terms of getting back political power – for, with political power, all things illegal can be made legal. And any other political entities in between PH and the opposition can only justify their relevancy in terms of what they can do, and what part they can play, to align themselves with the party that can take them into government. And underlying all these incestuous couplings is money. Insane amount of money there for the taking.

Any role that race or religion can play in these couplings will be harnessed to the max by everyone involved.

There you have it…all the ingredients you need for a perfect storm. A perfect storm that has, in the past, only threatened to break upon us but did not, because common sense prevailed when push comes to shove. Always when our country was at the edge of an abyss there was Tunku, Tun Razak and even for a while, Mahathir to hold the ship of state steady and steer us all through the eye of the storm. Today Tunku and Tun Razak are long gone. Mahathir is there but his ability to hold the ship of state steady is in question. Everyone else is dispensable. What is left?

You would have to figure out what is left. I know what is left. Some of you who read what I write, too know what is left…..but many of you do not know what is left. You are caught in the moment. You worry about racism, religion, and politics. You worry about the PAS UMNO tie-up. About the Bangkit Melayu movement. About the Chinese and the Indians being second class citizens. You worry about the things that you can do nothing about. Brothers and sisters…worry about what is to come. Ask yourself what can you start to do now to stop all that is now happening around you from determining the future of our people, our nation and our future. If it means you have to teach your children not to hate others who are different from them – do so now. If it means you have to teach yourself tolerance and learn to forgive others who have not been too kind and respectful to you – do so now. If it means you yourself will have to eschew race and religion in politics  – do so now. There are many things we all have to do now before we can collectively claim ownership of our country and our future from these politicians. So go figure out what those things are if you still do not know of them now.

Guys, if you cannot figure these things out for yourself, then, all things considered,  I think there is still hope for PAS and Umno to form government dalam masa terdekat! And if that thought does not scare the hell out of you into doing something now, then I doubt if anything else will! I rest my case.
