The time has come for Tun Dr Mahathir and Pakatan Harapan, to walk their talk.
We understand the need to have the Malays on their side to win government, to do government and to maintain government, We understand that whoever gets the Malay votes gets to do government. We know that those who have the Malays on side will decide the future of this nation of ours and when all else fails, they can dictate the Malaysia that they want. All this we Malays and many Malaysians, knows. So, is our country, our government and Malaysian to be beholden to the Malays in all things Malaysians? Are we all to be held to ransom by the Malays even if what they demand will damm us all to those troubled times that we have endured in over six decades of Umno rule that culminated with a decade of government under that most vile of Kleptocratic, Najib Razak?
This is one issues that has to be addressed not when all the ills that now beset our nation has been addressed. This is an issue that must be addressed now. Already we know that this is the very issue that Umno had decided there will be using as their battering ram against Tun Mahathir and Pakatan Harapan in their attempt to take back political power from the Rakyat and from Pakatan Harapan. And more worrying we can already see the marshalling of all things Malays – politics and demography – into a cohesive group to give credence to Umno’s claims as its champion, Umno’s claims as the defender of Malay rights and Umno’s reminder to all Malays that it needs to return to Putrajaya in the next General Election to make the Malays and Islam “great” once again in their Tanah Air.
Does this Pakatan Harapan government under Tun have the political will to do the necessary to stem this despicable racial and religious battering ram being wielded by Umno against us all?
The time has come for Mahathir to walk the talk. He has to deal with the Malays whom Umno has seen fit to use as their battering ram not only against the PH government but against all others in their bid to be relevant. It s clear now that Umno will use the Malays as their kuda tunggang to get back what they have lost in GE14. Whether they will succeed is not a matter of “if” …..you and i know that they will succeed…. unless this Pakatan Harapan government cuts them off NOW by burying Umno once and for all.
And here, as a Malay, I am conflicted. And this conflict that rages within me, rages within too many Malays to be ignored. Of course we want meritocracy in all things Malaysians. Everyone that calls Malaysia home are our equals. We know this and we have no problem accepting same. Those Malays who wants religion to be the arbitrator of all things Malaysians may be vocal but they are in the minority. And all things point to one thing….common sense will prevail when Malaysians are given rein to decide on their druthers. Where I am conflicted is simply this…without help…or to be more exact…without guidance…the Malays will find it tough going to pull themselves out of over six decades of the seemingly bottomless pit of dependence on the government for all of their needs and wants, that Umno has consigned them to. Here I am talking specifically about the Malays. I know that every Malaysians too have their hill to climb and their own “disadvantages” to overcome….and they too, are doing it tough. How Tun and Pakatan Harapan handle this “Malay” reality remains to be seen. In the position that Tun and Pakatan Harapan is now in, their would prefer to err against the non Malays in their attempts to manage the Malays to their advantage then to err against the Malays and be a one term government come GE15.
