If anything, this past week has been eventful.
We have Rafidah telling Pakatan Harapan “Do not let be the manifesto shackled you from moving forward. You might end up with being a one term government”……and yesterday Donplaypuks shared with me his latest posting “STOP GIVING EXCUSES MAHATHIR, TONY PUA, LIM GUAN ENG & ANWAR. ABOLISH TOLLS, HONOUR THE MANIFESTO OR RESIGN!” The Manifesto is many things to many people….so tread softly if you intend to interpret it to suit your vested interests.
We have Anwar Ibrahim having a go at Art Harun (the EC Chairman) and Bersih, both of whom, had voiced their concerns in the manner our Brader was conducting his by-election campaign in Port Dickson. But Art Harun tells us….he is a toothless tiger. Brother Art may I say this. If you lack the legislated authority to make Anwar and other Candidates toe the line when conducting their electoral campaigns, may I suggest this : Use your moral authority to shame these candidates into toeing the line. In the times that we are now in and in the future that we all aspire for….there are many things that this Pakatan Harapan government may not have the political will to pursue with vigour the things that are important to us, but not to them. What we lack in judicial process, we must insist that common sense and morality take precedence to ensure that no one will test the patience of the Rakyat to put up with the culture of impunity and entitlement that seems to plague too many of those who think themselves as being “high and mighty” in this Bolehland of ours.
We have had a few minor victories against this toxic culture of impunity that burdens all of us. That idiot of a “Dato Pokai driving a Range Rover but not being able to pay a RM3 parking fees” was made to eat crow and made up with the parking attendant he assaulted. This is still a work in progress – PDRM are still “looking into the matter” and charges may still be laid upon this idiot.
The DAP YP, who really is the Yang Biadap, was also made to eat crow after threatening to sue us bloggers if we do not cease and desist making his biadap antics viral. This certainly was not a case of “any news is good news” for this lunatic – but in the end common sense prevailed and this DAP YB ate humble pie and life goes on….until his next outburst…which is not an “if” but a “when”….mark my words.
Ahh Yes…we cannot forget that Brader Anwar was shamed into paying his 57 unpaid police summonses totalling RM8,730 – no thanks to Mujahidin Zulkiffli who found many “accomplices eager to viral the information on the NET”. A hiccup in Anwar’s PD caper but one he and others like him, will remember NOT to do if they have summons to pay.
Fire and brimstone are still being thrown by Najib and Rosmah at the PH government but with the inevitability of death, they know that with each passing day, the time they have left to come and go as they please, draws surely to a close. Prison awaits both of them as surely as death awaits you and me. Only for both of them, accustomed as they are to a life of ease, pleasure and with all the money they need to grab every one of life’s pleasure as they have so far desired, any time in Bamboo River has to be living death! And to most of us, it is deserved living death. These two are now passed worrying about earthly pleasures and wants. They are past worrying about what people will think of what they have done to become filthy rich is wrong. They are past worrying about being publicly shamed and past worrying about what family and what Najib’s mother will think of them as they are being out on trial for their greed, arrogance and crimes. Najib has given up on thinking that he can drag his trial up to the time when Umno is again in government and he will not only be pardoned, but, God willing, be in Seri Perdana again. He knows the best lawyers money can buy will not keep him out of jail. He knows that he will go in for a good number of years. And so will Rosmah. And to those who know him well, Najib is cracking up and soon he will no longer have to resolve even to keep his chin up in public. Without political power and without his Father’s legacy to bluster his way out of the lie that his life has been from the time he was MB of Pahang….Najib is done for. Incarceration will be a relief for him for once the cell door is closed behind him, he can at last reflect on what might have been.
In as far as Rosmah is concern, the deterioration of her physical self has started the moment BN lost GE14. She had never had any mental realization of her real station in life. She was not the PM’s wife. She was the fountain and conduit through which all political power that was Najib’s, became hers. She actually believed that she called the shots in government and at Seri Perdana….and being the PM’s wife was merely incidental. With or without Najib, so she thinks, she will prevail. What would make her understand her current situation is time in jail. No make up, no botox, no people kissing her hand in awe and reverence (so she thinks)…only when she has the four walls around her will she understand that her life, as she has know it until now, is over.
So many thing happening….and yet… what happened early this morning had the most profound effect on me. The passing of Saleem…whose plaintive voice had always touched me deep within my soul. Saleem dead at 57. I cannot say that life still goes on…nor can I just say that all things must pass….for when something that has always been good and precious passed from our lives, we are left with a bit more pain and a bit more sadness as life passes us by. If we can bear the pain and the sadness, then we move on with life. And even if we can, we still pause and take stock of what we still have of ourselves and our lives. I did that this morning when I heard of Saleem passing. Alfatihah.
