FEATURED IN MIND

Cash is King? Or do you have to be a King to get Cash?

Selamat Pagi Malaysia.

Gone are the days when the Sultans birthday honours list is filled with Chinese Towkays who are his “business partners” and the others who have been more than generous with their “birthday” presents for the Sultans. The state coffers are no longer the go-to ATM whenever the Sultans are in dire need of funds to cover their immediate cash flow “problems”. There are still the odd Sultans who seek choice premium land parcels in their state, logging and mining concessions to earn additional income to keep them in the ostentatious lifestyle that they have grown accustomed to, but in truth, those days are long gone.

These days, the Federal Government with the many lucrative tenders, contracts, and concessions at its disposal, is the “go to” ATM that the Sultans prefer. After all, how much will a Towkay pay for his datukship? A few hundred thousand ringgits perhaps, and that too, a “one off” transaction that only comes once a year. How much can a Sultan get from a contract/tender or concession from the Federal Government? Anything below RM$50 million is not even looked at by these Royals. No Sir…we are talking about hundreds of millions from one of these “business opportunities” from Putrajaya.

And what has the Sultan to give in return for these “business opportunities?”. The Sultans cannot give Tan Sri to these pariah politicians. That is the purview of the government of the day. Perish the thought of the Sultans giving out Tunships! At most what these Sultans have in their arsenal is a Datuk Seri and you and I know that these titles are a dime a dozen. Hell, if gangsters and individuals of dubious means can buy a title from one of the Royals, it stands to reason that these political pariahs have no need for these titles.

So what do the Sultans have that these pariah politicians want?

To be honest, not much. You have to be the Agong to be able to be “useful” to Putrajaya. And it is worth the wait! Right now it is the “giliran” of the Sultan of Pahang to be our King. And you know what they say about Cash being King! Kan? Or should I say being King gets you cash?

No, I am not being disrespectful to the Royals. Not all the Royals are the same. Not all the Royals will lower their dignity and kowtow to the Prime Minister because there are millions in it for him if he does so. You and I know who these Royals are.

There is now a battle Royal happening under the watch of this Back Door Government under TSMY. He knows it. We know it. And the Royals should know about it because they are all involved. Will the dignity, grace, and the darjat of the Royals be put on the line for financial gains? Or will the Royals together understand that the interest of Malaysia and Malaysians comes first? If they do not then maybe these Royals should look towards India, Indonesia, and our other neighbors where Royalty has been relegated to a position that leaves no doubt in anyone’s minds that the Royals are no longer needed in the times that we now live in.

Daulat Tuanku? I think not!

Enough said.
