FEATURED POLITICS

Mahathir has not failed the Malays. The Malays have failed Mahathir!

When your father has given you a good decent education. And then to give you a good start in life, he buys you a car, puts a deposit on the house that you want to buy to settle in with your new wife after a wedding that your father paid for. Then as you settled down into married life and began to think about starting a business – he again helps you out with seed capital. Then after your first year of business and all seems well, your old man tells you…you are on your own son, I now have to prepare for my retirement.

Do you not think that your old man has done his fair share of giving you that start in life? Don’t you think that it is now up to you to make a success of your life, on your own?  For sure you must think so.

And so it has been for the Malays, the Bumiputras, the Tuans of this Tanah Air. There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Malays who have been given a decent education in Government Schools, in ITM, the Universities, and when needed, given scholarships to study abroad. After their studies, they were given opportunities to work or to do business.

Various grants, loans, and preferential treatment were given to these Malays to give them a start in life. Discounts to buy houses, contracts reserved only for Malays, licenses only for Malays…every conceivable advantage needed to advance the economic welfare of the Malays were in place, formalized and acted upon as gospel by those tasked with implementing government policies, who were, more often than not, Malays themselves.

And at the forefront of these policies and the practical help given to the Malays was Tun Dr. Mahathir. It was under his watch for over two decades that the Malays were privy to all these advantages and special treatment. Bumiputra status. Ketuanan Melayu. Close Tender. Negotiated tender. Thirty Percent Bumiputra equity a must for any business, tenders, and contracts to do with the government and the list goes on and on.

And now in 2021, now that the Malays, by common consensus, have failed to achieve even a minuscule portion of what Tun Mahathir had in mind for them in his Wawasan 2020 vision, you want to blame Tun Mahathir for the ills of the Malays? Huh! No, my friends, Tun Mahathir has not failed the Malays. It is the Malays that have failed Tun Mahathir!

You want to blame the ills of Umno on Tun Mahathir? You want to blame the failure of Najib Razak and his wife for being so corrupt instead of being paragons of virtues on Tun Mahathir? You want to blame money politics and that Cash is King syndrome in Umno’s culture on Tun Mahathir?

You want to blame the actions of Semburit who betrayed Pakatan Harapan on Tun Mahathir? And you want to blame the fact that Anwar Ibrahim is not Prime Minister on Tun Mahathir?  No, my friend you cannot do so.

The corruption in Umno, MIC and MCA is not Tun’s lot to bear. And the fact that those Towel heads in Pas have now been outed for what they are – self-serving religious bigots using Islam to advantage themselves, is not Tun Mahathir’s fault.

Those corrupt pariah politicians we see all around us now have only themselves to blame, not Tun Mahathir. And for all of you that have been blaming Tun for all the ills that we now have in our nation today, please, step back and ask yourself why you have not done more to ensure that politicians that we all elected have not done their duty to king and country.

Remember we elected these politicians to high office, not Tun Mahathir. Remember we elected Umno time and time again to government. Not Tun Mahathir. And remember all those corrupt Malays that are now a dime a dozen anywhere you look, you must make them be responsible for the things they do in the name of government, not blame Tun Dr. Mahathir for everything. Enough said.
