Meritocracy is our future.
For those of you who think that Najib Razak will make a political comeback at the next general election and munchul sebagai salah satu daripada ahli Majilis Tertinggi Umno….perish that thought! Today Kepit Man has got as much drawing power as the Bearded Lady in P.T. Barnum Circus – some would call the lady a circus freak, a human oddity, and maybe even a monster but in truth, they are all, like Najib Razak, one of those quirks in life that we have to live with.
The bearded lady will draw the crowd into the tent and earn for the circus and herself, a decent living. But, pray tell me, will the bearded lady find for herself a decent suitor in life? Najib will always draw a crowd wherever he goes. And why not? There will be free train rides, free food for the masses, the glitz and glamour of Rosmah (NOT!), and smokes and mirrors as Bossku struts his stuff around the carnival. Nobody that comes to see him goes back any poorer. Nobody that comes to see Najib goes back without being entertained by his antics. For Umno and for anyone or anything that wants a rent-a-crowd to gather – send for Najib and everyone will have a merry time at Najib’s expense.
When the merriment is over, and the caterers and cleaners have been paid for by Najib, he goes home smug in his belief that he is indeed Bossku. Bossku is feeling great that hundreds, if not thousands of people have been there to “welcome” him and surge forward to pay their “respect” to him, kiss his hand, and salam with him when he arrived and when he left. And for Umno that idiot from Pekan, son of Tun Razak and husband to that joke of a First Lady, has once again done his part in pulling in the crowd for Umno. Everybody is happy. And most important, Bossku aka the Bearded Lady of Umno, the one who says that cash is king with millions in his bank account, can still be used by Umno and others in Umno, to once again be an attraction at the next electoral carnival that Umno wants to hold.
But Umno knows that this joke of a Bugis Malay and his sad excuse of a wife is a liability to Umno. They will both be used the same way that P T Barnum used his bearded ladies – as an attraction to draw the crowd. Nothing more.
Umno or Muhyiddin will not do much to give him a “Get out of Jail” card. Who wants him or his wife in Seri Perdana again? Who wants him in parliament again? What is left for these two to do now but to try and keep as much of their ill-gotten gains as is possible and to stay out of jail – both an impossibility given that Najib is no longer PM and will never be PM again. And of course, his better half is also no longer First lady…or any Lady for that matter. Meantime for both of them, as the Malays say, “Hidup segan. Mati tak mau”. They are like a fish out of water, gulping for air, and flopping around waiting for the end that will surely come.
Today there are many like Najib and Rosmah in Bolehland. Mostly in Umno. Today there are enough Malays who know these Malays for what they are. Corrupted, greedy, and totally lacking in any awareness of the loathing and contempt everyone holds for them for their money makes them blind to these realities. Without political power, these Malays can only hope to hold on to whatever political spoils they have illegally accumulated during their time in public office. There are also enough of us Malays to ensure that these Malays will be culled, punished, and be consigned to the position that they deserve – that of being the pariah that has brought shame and ruin to the Malays. It has already started. Najib and Rosmah have already had their day in court. And so will many others. Too little, too slowly done? Of course, but did you not see the fear and shame mirrored in their faces as they are arrested and charged for their treason against our Tanah Air.
The deluge when these political criminals will start to begin their time behind bars will come once we have a decent and responsible Government. Nobody can stop this from happening because the time when these corrupt politicians will be able to hold high public office at the pleasure of their political masters, is long gone. For sure we now have a Back Door Government with a Back Door Prime Minister but for how long will it survive? We have a leader of the opposition in Anwar Ibrahim but questions are being asked if Anwar can take government at the next GE. To lead the government or the opposition, you have to earn the right to do so. Meritocracy will, from now on, decide the suitability of any one’s right to hold public office. Maybe this will not happen in the coming months, maybe not even in the coming year but Meritocracy is our future.
