How should we deal with people who believe and act that :
1. humans must be killed on sight on account of their race (eg the Nazis who killed Jews)
2. humans must be killed on account of their faith (Sunnis / Shias who kill apostates)
3. humans must be killed on account of their sexual behavior (Sunnis / Shias who kill LGBTs, those engaging in sex outside marriage?)
4. they shud wage permanent war against nonbelievers (Sunnis / Salafis vs darul harbi).
Just a question. Syed Akbar Ali
There is definitely a ‘risk factor’ when our cultural conditioning and education do not subscribe to diversity and inclusivity as part of their tenets and eventually have leaders groomed with the tribal perspective of ‘we’ against ‘the other’. Ramli Ibrahim.
Until I was about 25 yrs old I never knew that apostates, adulterers, lgbts etc shud be killed. So I never harboured such thoughts, even anywhere deep in the back of my head. And when I first heard about this I knew this had to be false. And it is false.
But now they teach this to school kids, all over the Islamic world. The youngest school kids are growing up with strong convictions about these beliefs – that they can kill humans over beliefs, sexual behaviour. This is now normal amongst millions. Syed Akbar Ali
Yes, the exposure by social media has intensified these news and I feel that in certain parts of the world, including ours, that we have not become more civilized but more barbaric. Ramli Ibrahim
